Media Space and the State of Media Associations: a Baseline Study

The Center for Advancement of Rights and Democracy (CARD) strongly believes that a strong media, civic, and digital spaces are vital for democratization. Despite progress, the media space has mostly been narrower than it should always be for a promising progress in democratization. Having this in mind, CARD, in financial support received from the French Development Agency (AFD), has commissioned the study which gives a brief image on the media space and associations of journalists that are backbones for the safety and protection of the media space. The study is intended to fill the gap of knowledge about the state of journalists associations' in Ethiopia and their operational capacity to represent the sector. Stakeholders are expected to take actions based on gaps and recommendations provided under the study.
